BlackBerry Priv Virtual Expert, Camera Apps Updates Now Available for Download
The BlackBerry team is well and truly putting the new Priv on top of their priority list. Now that it's out, the company is continuing to make sure the users are having a smooth experience by updating the various applications and offering new ones.
According to a report from Phone Arena, system applications for the BlackBerry devices are now provided in the Google Play Store so the updates can be downloaded even without the often lengthy approvals by carriers. It's one of the perks of BlackBerry joining the Android family.
The BlackBerry Camera app now reportedly offers an update to version 1.0.0.3605 in Google Play. It is said to make the camera "significantly faster", as well as offering a number of upgraded features including support for widescreen (16:9) images on the Priv. Now there are also indicators provided for alerting the owners when conditions are currently in low-light or when HDR is turned on. Auto-focus and capture optimization is also included, plus improved preview and other bug fixes and stability updates.
"The BlackBerry® Camera is optimized for the Schneider-Kreuznach® certified camera on PRIV," the description of the app read. "Take professional-quality photos with minimal effort! Creativity comes naturally when taking photos is this simple, and when your results are this beautiful."
Additionally, the BlackBerry Virtual Expert is also available on the Google Play Store, according to a separate report from Phone Arena. This app is designed to run diagnostic tests on 18 different parts of the BlackBerry Priv including the Cameras, Camera Flash, Display, Keyboard, Main Keypad, Side keys, Slider, Touch Screen, Receiver Speaker, Loudspeaker, Stereo Headset, Microphones, Vibrator, Status LED, USB connector, USB port, Light Sensor and the Proximity Sensor.
Each test will yield different scores and when there are failures, BlackBerry will urge the users to show the user's carrier the results of the Virtual Expert test. This is useful in being able to indicate the problems in the Priv and other future models of the BlackBerry roster, so users will be able to catch problems early and more efficiently.
The app's Google Play description read, "The BlackBerry Virtual Expert diagnostics application is a simple self-guided diagnostics app brought to you by BlackBerry. This application is designed to help you identify the cause of symptoms that your BlackBerry device may exhibit or display."
Both BlackBerry Camera update and the Virtual Expert are available for free on the Google Play Store.
