World of Minecraft Games for PS4, PS Vita & Xbox One Coming Soon: Developers Say Creating Next-Gen Console Games Is Their "Main Thing"
During the last few months, 4J Studios been asked many times when Minecraft will release versions for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 as well as when the software 1.06 patch would be released for the PS3. The answer is usually met with the same response on the company's Twitter page, which is that they're working on it.
On Friday the company tweeted, "The main thing we're working on is Minecraft Editions for Xbox One, PS4 and PS Vita, and Patch 1.06 for PS3 J."
Epoch Times reported that the company also posted a photo earlier this week showing the versions of the game on the Xbox One, PS4 and PS Vita. While there's no official word yet, the game's developers and even Microsoft Chief Product Officer Phil Spencer have teased that the next-gen versions of Minecraft will include better textures and larger worlds.
Recently, Spencer told IGN that the Xbox One version is coming along smoothly.
"I talked to [4J Studios] last night," Spencer said. "They feel really good about the progress that they're making. It's their game, and it'd be Mojang's game. We graciously host it on our platform."
Spencer continued to say insist that Mojang and 4J Studios are in full control of the game and also discussed it's release date.
"This is something that's really in their hands now," Spencer said. "They're now a full-fledged developer in every sense. They control the [release] date of that , but I'll tell people that we're getting really close."
Daniel Kaplan, manager for Mojang, told Xbox Magazine that the game "is coming, eventually!"
Despite his recent comments that developing bigger worlds for the Xbox 360 version would be difficult because of the lack of hard drives, Spencer boasted about the game's quality after speaking with Mojang founder Markus "Notch" Persson.
"I talked with Notch last night, and they're really excited about the quality," he said.
