Mega Millions Numbers, Results Jan. 12, 2016: Live Stream of Drawing Time; $15M Jackpot
The new year is always good for a new start, and that seems to be true for Mega Millions, as well.
The multistate lottery's jackpot is down to "just" $15 million for the Jan. 12 drawing. But if you don't mind taking that relatively low grand prize home anyway, then you might want to buy a ticket and tune in at 11 p.m. ET, which is when tonight's draw is set to take place at the studios of WSB-TV, Atlanta's ABC affiliate.
If you hit the jackpot and want to take home every last penny, the total prize will be paid out to you in annual installments over a 29-year period. Otherwise, you also have the option of an immediate lump sum payout of about $9 million.
The lottery's winning numbers from the last drawing on Jan. 8 were 11, 39, 51, 57 and 75; the Mega Ball number was 2; and the Megaplier number was 5, according to the game's official website. The estimated jackpot had been $165 million, and a lucky player on New York's Staten Island took home the grand prize, The Associated Press reported.
The winner is still unidentified, but the newswire noted that he or she bought the magic ticket at the Willowbrook Deli in the "forgotten borough" of New York City. Deli manager Sarbjit Singh told the Staten Island Advance he was "shocked."
"We didn't see the winner yet, but we've been asking our regular customers to check their tickets," Singh noted.
Mega Millions drawings take place every Tuesday and Friday, and the draw entry closes at 10:45 p.m. ET. Tickets for the game are sold in 43 states, the District of Columbia and the U.S. Virgin Islands -- a total of 45 jurisdictions. The odds of winning any prize are about 1 in 15, but your chances of hitting the jackpot are only about 1 in 259 million.
