Ellen DeGeneres and wife Portia de Rossi announced on a Thursday they have a new addition to their family.

E! Online reports the couple have formally adopted a 2-month-old puppy.

"I have not talked about this yet, but we have a new puppy," DeGeneres raved on her talk show. "Portia and I got a puppy and his name is Kid so now we have a kid. Yep. I mean, he is absolutely adorable."

Be that as it may, the 57-year-old DeGeneres hinted that their new housemate keeps an odd schedule, and it's resulting in changes to both her and de Rossi's lifestyle.

The talk show host added it's "not cute to wake up at 11, and 1, and 3 and 5. And then 5 is when he's [actually] up [for the day]."

DeGeneres then turned to guest DJ Stephen "tWitch" Boss and warned him about the changes he and wife Allison Holker can expect when she gives birth soon.

"He's got so much energy, so I'm just warning you right now: When you have -- well, when Allison has that baby -- you're gonna be so tired," she said.

DeGeneres later added the entire experience has left her feeling more appreciative of mothers everywhere.

"Because like I'm trying to hold a puppy while I'm trying to make coffee," she added. "And I can't do anything. He doesn't let me do anything."

DeGeneres also shared her whole reason for naming the pup Kid was because of all the talk she's been forced to hear on the subject of children over the years.

"I named him Kid because, you know, people ...There have been rumors forever. 'When are you and Portia gonna have a kid?' So, now I can say we have a Kid. So it can just stop."

During a March 2015 "Today" show appearance, DeGeneres also took on a playful tone in addressing all the constant questioning.

"I love kids," she joked back then. "But that's such a big commitment. And it seems long-term. It seems like a commitment that you have to stick with. And I just don't know if I can -- it's too risky. Like, what if I don't like the kid?"
