Eva Longoria Admits Pal Ricky Martin Was Once Crush
Eva Longoria and Ricky Martin looked as close as two Hollywood pals could be, when he joined her on the red carpet on Dec. 6, 2015 in support of her foundation. From their interaction, one might never know that one of her best friends once caused Longoria a lot of anxiety, given she had a major childhood crush on the singer.
The Eva Longoria Foundation empowers Latinas through education. Martin and Longoria have become such great friends, he flew to Miami on the night of a fundraising event for the foundation just to support his friend.
Still, their current friendship is a far cry from how Longoria originally imagined they would end up together.
"Ricky Martin was my first crush growing up," the now engaged "Desperate Housewives" star recently told Film News of the "Livin' la Vida Loca" star. "When I met him, I was like, 'You don't understand, I loved you so much growing up.'"
Nowadays, all those overflowing affections are reserved for fiancé Jose "Pepe" Baston, who formally popped the question while the two were on a vacation to Dubai just before Christmas.
Word is Baston used a backdrop that included camels and birds to create the perfect, romantic atmosphere. All the meticulous planning now has Longoria counting down the days until Valentine's Day next month to see what he has planned.
"I don't know what our Valentine plans are yet," she added. "I'm a very romantic person, but actually Pepe is way more romantic than I am; he's very thoughtful. I just love to make people happy, mostly my partner."
The 41-year-old Longoria was previously married to actor Tyler Christopher and NBA star Tony Parker.
"He is probably one of the first men I've dated that has been older and established and, basically, a grownup," she said of Baston. "It is so nice to be arm-in-arm with someone who is your equal."
Reports are Baston didn't even know who his now intended was when the two first met. And she recently shared with talk show host Ellen DeGeneres that he still hadn't seen her star in the "Desperate Housewives" role that made her a household name until recently.
"He tries to watch, and, of course, I'm banging the gardener in the first season, she told The Daily Mail. "And he's like, 'I don't want to watch,'" she said. "I was like 'Yeah, yeah let's jump to Season 5. That's when I was not sleeping with anybody."'
