Michael Bisping plans to go for broke when he faces Anderson Silva at UFC Fight Night 83.

Silva will be making yet another return to the Octagon after serving out a one-year suspension for testing positive on illegal substance. While he did defeat Nick Diaz, Silva saw that win overturned due to the use of drugs.

His last win was way back in 2012 so expect the ‘Spider’ to go all out in his return to the Octagon on Feb. 27 in London, England.

Bisping plans to use Silva as his stepping stone to a possible title shot. He has long wanted one when Silva was still reigning supreme but apparently such never materialized.

“He was a longtime middleweight champion and a guy I wanted to fight for a long time. Of course I wanted to fight him when he was champion. But this is my biggest fight outside of a title fight right now. I always wanted to test myself against him and I knew I could beat him,” says Bisping via MMA Junkie.

While that gesture seems to be respectful, Bisping plans to back that up with a big win to try and position himself for a match against champion Luke Rockhold.

“My camp’s going the best it’s ever been. I’m performing better. Mentally, I’m way better than I’ve ever been, and I’m going to destroy this guy. Then after that I’m going to get the people of London to cheer and make some goddamn noise and demand that I get a title shot,” says Bisping on “The Countdown” radio show.

Rockhold is expected to be around to see that fight and Bisping intends to make it stick. He will try to make an impression and hopefully draw the eye of the champion.

Bisping and Rockhold did get it on at UFC Fight Night 55 in 2014 where Rockhold submitted Bisping. But according to ‘The Count’, he got an illegal head butt that impaired his vision.

With Bisping already 36 years old, he knows that time is running out and his title-shot opportunities are dwindling. Hopefully an impressive win against Silva can line him up for a long overdue title shot.
