Manchester United News and Rumors: Jurgen Klopp Won't Leave Borussia Dortmund, Louis Van Gaal Could Head To Old Trafford
Manchester United officially announced on Tuesday that David Moyes has left the club after having one of their worst seasons in club history.
With Moyes out of Old Trafford, reports indicated that the club is very interested in hiring Jurgen Klopp, but the Borussia Dortmund coach sounded determined to stay in Germany.
Klopp told The Guardian on Tuesday that Manchester United is a great club and has a very good fan base due to their rich history, but he dismissed the possibility of moving to Old Trafford.
Klopp, who has been drawing the interest of several top-tier teams due to his success with Borussia Dortmund, recently signed a contract extension that will expire in 2018, and the 48-year-old coach said that he will honor his contract with the club.
"Man Utd is a great club and I feel very familiar with their wonderful fans. But my commitment to Borussia Dortmund and the people is not breakable," Klopp said.
Klopp, who began his stint at the Signal Iduna Park in 2008, has led his young squad to multiple successes over the past several years, winning two championships and one German FA Cup, while also leading the squad to the Champions League finals last year.
With Klopp out of the picture, Netherlands manager Louis van Gaal will reportedly be named as Manchester United's manager next season after his coaching stint in the upcoming 2014 Brazil World Cup.
Van Gaal was reportedly planning to join Tottenham Hotspur this summer, but ESPN FC reported that the 62-year-old coach has been cold about the idea, possibly because he is aware that he could be a strong candidate to take Moyes' spot at the Old Trafford.
"White Hart Lane sources say Van Gaal has become extremely cool on that prospect over the last two months and his position has completely changed -- perhaps because the Dutchman had been informed the United post could become open to him," ESPN FC noted.
Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs was named as the club's interim manager in their final four league games, and reports suggested that he could also be named as manager on a permanent basis.
