'Making a Murderer' Season 2 Update: What Will Be Steve Avery's Fate?
Fans rooting for Steven Arvey's innocence will be thrilled upon knowing that "Making a Murderer" might have a second season.
As per TV Line, Netflix's hit docu series is starting to unfold, leaving fans at the edge of their seats. During a press conference at the Television Critic Association held in Pasadena, California last Sunday, Jan. 17, Ted Sarandos dished out a few hints that there's a possibility for the hit series to have a season 2. Sarandos told the reporters that, "The story is still unfolding, so we'll certainly take a look at it."
The series' mysterious plot is one of the reasons it gained respect among viewers. Sarandos then added, "There must be something genetic in us, that we're natural born detectives. And there's a sense of injustice and certainly a sense of mystery."
As of the latest update in regards to Steven Arvey's case, Pop Sugar stated that Arvey's White House Petition made significant progress wherein the signature campaign gathered almost 500,000 signatures, which is more than the required number (100,000).
Despite the successful signature campaign, the White House made an official statement on their website in response to Steven Arvey's presidential pardon, Jan. 8, which stated, "This clemency authority empowers the President to exercise leniency towards persons who have committed federal crimes. Since Steven Avery and Brendan Dassey are both state prisoners, the President cannot pardon them. A pardon in this case would need to be issued at the state level by the appropriate authorities."
"Making a Murderer" became an instant hit after it was first released by Netflix by the end of December last year. The docu series following Steven Arvey's rape trial succeeded in gaining the viewers interest, making it one of the most popular Netflix series up to this date.
The series' success continually moved forward, wherein the chief content officer himself was surprised with the progress that they're making. Sarandos told the reporters that "It was a remarkable turn of events in the last couple weeks of the year, It was that crazy combination of super-addictive television and people having the time to watch it."
In addition to Pop Sugar's report, it was stated that Steve Arvey filed a motion for a new trial last January 12. One of his attorneys shared her support towards Arvey on Twitter as she urged people to visit him at Waupon CC. His Attorney also added that she won't quit in working with his case "until he's out."
