Neuroscientist Explains Donald Trump's Mental Disorder
Trump's narcissistic ways can potentially lead into a dictatorial leadership in case he'd win the presidential election, placing him on the same spot as Saddam Hussein and Napoleon Bonaparte as per Raw Story's report.
Donald Trump has been making the headlines ever since he announced that he's running for president. His media appearances however are usually due to his tactful comments and media stunts that gather the public's attention. As per Raw Story's report, Trump's obsession on media attention is due to his narcissistic personality.
Raw Story mentioned that Trump is considered as a "textbook narcissist" by the top psychologists from the United States including a Harvard Graduate School of Education professor, Howard Grander.
During an interview with Vanity Fair, George Simon, who is working as a clinical psychologist, told the news website that Donald Trump is a perfect example of a narcissist.
He then stated that he'll be using Trump as an example for his workshop discussions when he shared, "He's so classic that I'm archiving video clips of him to use in workshops. Otherwise, I would have had to hire actors and write vignettes. He's like a dream come true."
Dr Robert Klitzman, a professor of psychiatry and the director of the Masters of Bioethics program at Columbia University, however, stated that psychiatrists should not comment on an individual's mental health without personally examining the patient as per American Psychiatric Association.
Vanity Fair then added that back in 1964, Fact Magazine published an article about Senator Barry Goldwater's presidential capability, wherein the publication asked several psychiatrists to participate on the poll. By doing so Senator Goldwater filed a lawsuit against the magazine in the amount of $2 million.
Vanity Fair then added that a psychotherapist by the name of Charlotte Prozan stated that Donald Trump's narcissistic behavior is very evident as his lack of empathy would usually surface in most of his speeches and media appearances.
Prozan then added, "He's very easy to diagnose, in the first debate, he talked over people and was domineering. He'll do anything to demean others, like tell Carly Fiorina he doesn't like her looks. 'You're fired!' would certainly come under lack of empathy."
Mayo Clinic stated that narcissists are self-absorbed with a "boastful and pretentious" personality wherein the individual needs to fulfil his/her sense of entitlement. They are short tempered especially if they would not be able to get what they want.
