Frozen Movie Online, Let It Go, Soundtrack & Sequel Rumors: Frozen 2 Plans Likely On Hold For Now; Will Broadway Show Take Off?
You might not want to get your hopes up about a "Frozen" sequel for at least a couple more years.
The incredible success since November has prompted many people to ask whether or not Disney plans to capitalize on this by going through with a sequel. While Disney's CEO Bob Iger mentioned earlier in the year that the film has "franchise potential," there has been no official word of confirmation about a sequel. However, Iger has hinted that Disney might be planning to bring the film to the stage but that it will probably be a slower process.
"We're not demanding speed," he said to CNN's Fortune. "We're demanding excellence."
Considering that they are taking their time with a Broadway adaptation, it seems that we shouldn't expect them to rush a sequel either. All in all, it will probably be a few years before plans for a sequel are actually in motion. "Frozen 2" would face an uphill battle in terms of matching the success of the original film, but the potential is there.
The Disney film became a huge hit when it was released in theaters last November and it continues to grow in popularity. "Frozen" continues to shatter sales records while the soundtrack itself is just as popular. In fact, the soundtrack was just on pace to break its weekly record in sales. The soundtrack has been number 1 on the Billboad 200 list for nearly a dozen consecutive weeks and more than 2.1 million albums have been sold so far in the United States and is the best-selling album of the year.
