Alec Baldwin Tweet Threatens Reporter, Launches Homophobic Remarks On Twitter
During what should have been a somber remembrance of the life and times of Hollywood great James Gandolfini, one report has alleged that Alec Baldwin's wife was tweeting during Gandolfini's funeral.
The funeral, which was a star-studded affair, took place on Thursday, and controversy soon arose when British reporter George Stark claimed that Baldwin's wife Hilaria Thomas had been tweeting wedding presents and television appearances during the proceedings.
"It's disgraceful that a reporter would manufacture and publish a story and not call for comment or explanation -- especially when it's intended to take away attention from honoring the memory of a beloved figure like James Gandolfini," a rep for Baldwin stated. "There are multiple witnesses to the fact that Hilaria left her phone in the car and wouldn't, couldn't, and didn't tweet during the service."
That was the nicer version of the sentiments from Baldwin and Thomas's camp. Alec Baldwin immediately took to Twitter to defend his wife, launching a tirade of threats and borderline homophobic remarks at Stark.
"[I'd] put my foot up your f**king ass, George Stark, but I'm sure you'd dig it too much," Baldwin, 55, tweeted. In another tweet, he got a bit more to the point: "I'm gonna find you, George Stark ... and I'm gonna f***...you...up."
Hilaria Thomas also defended her actions, stating that Stark was flat out wrong in his report of what happened. She also gave a probable reason for why he may have thought that she was tweeting during the funeral.
"FYI I don't believe in bringing phones into a funeral and I never did and I never would," Hilaria Thomas tweeted. "Here is some info... When someone tweets something at a certain time, and you retweet it later, it posts the TIME the first person tweeted."
Gandolfini died suddenly this past week while on vacation with his family in Rome, Italy. He had planned on attending a Sicilian film festival and gave no indications that he was in poor health. The former Sopranos star was 51.
