Neymar has undoubtedly risen to new heights, capped with the fact that he was among the final names that would have won the 2015 Ballon d’Or award for best male player.

Teammate Lionel Messi won that one but it was more of how Neymar ended up in the voting that disappointed him.

As far as he is concerned, Neymar did show some disappointment as he felt he should have finished next to Messi and not behind Ronaldo, via the Irish Independent.

"In all honesty, yes, I'd hoped to come second.” "I'm delighted to be here alongside two footballing greats. I hope to come back and for my team to keep winning.”

While there were a lot of things that probably happened other than the ones reported, there is one curious piece which claims that Neymar had a secret meeting with Real Madrid.

The report comes from Al Primer Toque on Onda Cero radio, which claims that Neymar met with Real Madrid’s Andre Cury and Wagner Ribeiro.

Though the report is being scrutinized as we speak, there is growing belief that this is nothing more than a ploy by Neymar to boost his contract.

Other than that, drawing Neymar over to Real Madrid will come at a pretty steep price. The 23-year-old striker carries a release clause of circa £140 million in his Barcelona contract. If Real Madrid is truly inclined to get him, then that is the amount they have to settle to get it done.

However, Neymar has shown no signs that he wants out of Barcelona, especially since he stands to get pretty much anything from his current ballclub.

As far as that alleged meeting is concerned, not too many are convinced that it really took place.

“The reality is that the Ballon d'Or doesn't seem a likely place, or a secret one, to have a meeting of this time,” as mentioned on the report from Sport. “Neymar, furthermore, says he's happy at Barcelona and it's hard to hide the reality.”

Understandably, Neymar is a key piece for Barcelona’s future. It may take more than money to woo him out of where he is right now, though the Brazilian legend did say previously that he could pull some strings and get him playing for Real Madrid.

Carlos holds a good relationship with Neymar but plucking him out from a place where he seems to be enjoying his stay could be a long shot for now.

Carlos is reportedly set to join Zinedine Zidane and take charge of handling the Real Madrid Youth levels, as reported via Marca.com.
