NBA Fantasy Basketball Week 14 Waiver Wire: Tyson Chandler, Alex Len, Josh Smith, Nikola Jokic Gaining Ground
The 14th week of the 2015-16 NBA Fantasy Basketball season will be crucial for owners who are in serious pursuit of a playoff spot in their respective leagues. Here are some of the players who are gaining ground in most leagues.
Tyson Chandler - Phoenix Suns
Phoenix Suns starting center Tyson Chandler is expected to become a hot commodity this week after noteworthy performances during their game against the San Antonio Spurs and Atlanta Hawks on Thursday and Saturday.
Chandler, who is owned in just 67 percent of all Yahoo Fantasy leagues, averaged 10.5 points, 23.5 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 1.5 blocks in 40 minutes of playing time in their last two games.
Fantasy owners who are looking for rebounds and some blocks should take a serious look at Chandler. It is worth noting, though, that the veteran center could be slowed down by injury anytime soon.
Alex Len - Phoenix Suns
Fantasy owners who are looking for a big man with good upside should consider adding Alex Len, who is available in 69 percent of all Yahoo Fantasy leagues.
Despite Chandler's two consecutive big nights, Len was able to get a share of the spotlight. Against the Spurs, he posted 13 points, eight rebounds, four assists, two blocks and a steal. In their 98-95 win against the Hawks, the 22-year-old scored 16 points on 6-for-10 shooting from the field on top of 12 rebounds and five assists.
Based on his last two games, Len could get more minutes moving forward. The former Maryland standout played 35 minutes against San Antonio and Atlanta.
Josh Smith - Houston Rockets
Josh Smith was traded to the Houston Rockets after not getting enough opportunities with the Los Angeles Clippers. The trade could work wonders for Smith based on his first two games back in a Rockets uniform.
Smith, who is only owned in 26 percent of all leagues, contributed in almost all areas in his first two games since the trade, as he averaged 9.5 points, 4.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists, 2.5 blocks and 2.0 steals in 22.0 minutes. The veteran forward also overtook Terrence Jones in the rotation, and could get more minutes in the coming weeks.
Nikola Jokic - Denver Nuggets
Nikola Jokic is also worth a speculative add for owners who have someone to drop or have room for experiment. The Denver Nuggets rookie scored 17 points on 7-for-11 clip from the field on top of five rebounds, three blocks, three assists and two steals in 32 minutes of playing time in their 104-101 win against the Detroit Pistons on Saturday.
