Jared Leto Dallas Buyers Club Oscar 2014: Academy Award Winner Says Trophy is a 'Filthy Mess'
An Oscar may be the topmost award an actor can win, but Jared Leto doesn't really care about the trophy.
His Oscar is "a filthy mess. Everybody was pawing that thing," he said, according to the Associated Press. His golden statuette also has scrapes after being passed around to his friends.
Leto, who is currently promoting his documentary about his band 30 Seconds to Mars, is not the only one with weird Oscar stories. Many celebrities have weird storage places for their statues.
Russell Crowe, who won Best Actor in 2001, supposedly keeps his statue in his ranch in Australia. It's in a chicken coop.
Timothy Hutton has an especially funny story. He said: "About five years ago, my sister and I were having a party at my house in upstate New York. She put it in the refrigerator. She thought that would be kind of funny to put the Oscar in the refrigerator when people would go grab a beer or something... It's still there."
Jack Nicholson has won three Oscars, and he keeps them on top of his bookshelves.
Mira Sorvino won a Best Supporting Actress Oscar in 1996, and she keeps her award on her dressing table. "My Oscar sites on my dresser in my bedroom along with some childhood memories," she said.
Emma Thompson keeps her Oscars in perhaps the strangest place: the bathroom. "They look too outré anywhere else," she said.
Jodie Foster first kept her Oscar in her bathroom because they matched her faucets. She eventually had to move them because the bottom of the statue started corroding.
Want to hold Reese Witherspoon's Oscar? Then prepare to give a speech in her living room, where she keeps it.
Jamie Foxx doesn't even have his Oscar. He gave it to his manager.
