La La Anthony, Timbaland to Produce Hip-Hop Docuseries
La La Anthony is teaming with Grammy-winning producer Timbaland to produce a hip-hop docuseries.
Just days after announcing she will also be producing Oscar winner Lupita Nyong'o on Broadway, Deadline reports NBA star Carmelo Anthony's better half will also be working with Leftfield Pictures on the hip hop project.
Word is the plot will focus on Jeff Janvier and Session Cruz's Face Time Agency, which is widely considered the premiere casting agency for booking music video and hip-hop fashion models, boasting a client stable that includes the likes of Drake, Kanye West and Robin Thicke.
All the drama is rumored to be set inside the New York City nightlife scene, with one scene after another exposing the "hustling" sideshow the art of making it in the world of hip hop as a model, music or fashion maven or social media star has become for entrepreneurial types.
"La La and Timbaland are perfect examples of what can be achieved when talent, determination and creativity collide with entrepreneurship," Leftfield Entertainment CEO David George said.
"We're thrilled to be in business with these two entertainment innovators to create a series that uncovers a unique, rarified faction of hip hop and provides a true soundtrack for the unpredictable journey toward fame and fortune."
Anthony is slated to produce the project, while Timbaland will serve as exec music producer.
"I'm thrilled to be executive producing a project that offers a true insider's look into the business side of hip hop, especially one that explores the lives of fascinating women who have used hip hop as their platform to become successful entrepreneurs in fashion, music and more," La La said.
In the project starring Nyong'o, La La will serve as part of the production team for the making of "Eclipsed," a drama that will serve as Nyong'o's Broadway debut.
The plot of the production centers on the violent chaos that grips much of Liberia as a civil war plays out. The show is slated to commence previews on Feb. 23 at the Shubert Organization's John Golden Theatre, before officially opening on March 6, with a limited run through June 19.
The 36-year-old Anthony has also previously starred in such films as "Think Like A Man" and "You Got Served."
Currently, she stars in Spike Lee's much bandied about film "Chi-Raq."
