Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson Unlikely to Wrestle at Wrestlemania 32, Here's Why
The good news is that Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson will be around for Wrestlemania 32 when the WWE spectacle unfolds in Arlington, Texas. The bad news is that he will be there merely appearing and not competing.
To those who have been keeping tabs, this is certainly nothing new. Word about Johnson’s participation is actually a foregone conclusion. There were some who were playing with the idea that ‘The Rock’ could compete since recent reports revealed that WWE is badly undermanned right now. The Rock recently appeared on RAW.
In that show, the Rock was around in Miami doing what he does best -- talking. Johnson was on a roll taking shots at some other stars in the WWE locker room. But of all the people he verbally got entangled with, it was the one with The New Day that somehow involved some physicality though the Usos were there to do provide backup.
Before parting, he was quoted of saying (via the Bleacher Report): "I'll see you at WrestleMania."
Depending on how one takes it, that statement could mean a lot of things.
One is that ‘The Rock’ will likely not re-appear until Wrestlemania 32 in April and the other leaves a sheepish thought of some match going down.
Of the two, the former seems more sensible though expect fans to continue speculations of a possible match.
Seeing ‘The Rock’ in action doesn’t have a good chance of success. For one, there is his Hollywood commitment to consider.
Last year, no one really knew if ‘The Rock’ would be at Wrestlemania 32 at all. No other than Johnson himself confirmed he would be there and from there the imaginations ran wild.
This time, it was a question of seeing him in a match or just taking on a role that would not include much physical contact. But with an insurance issue in place, as reported by Wrestling Inc, it is unlikely that ‘The Rock’ would get it on and risk injury, which could end up disastrous for the ‘People’s Champion’.
One can only look back to Wrestlemania 29 where ‘The Rock’ mixed it up with John Cena and came out of that injured. He was shooting for ‘Hercules’ then and the injury caused problems on shooting schedule via PWInsider.com.
The best to hope for right now is to perhaps see him as a guest referee or enforcer outside the ring if the rumored tiff involving his cousin Roman Reigns and Triple H does officially materialize.
Other than that, ‘The Rock’ will likely do a similar segment as he did in Wrestlemania 31 which saw him and former UFC champion Ronda Rousey face off with Triple H and Stephanie McMahon.
