Real Madrid News: Sergio Ramos Believes Neymar Could Make 'Difference' at Bernabeu
If he will have it his way Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos wouldn’t mind seeing Neymar hook up with the team despite admitting that such is nearly impossible from happening.
Ramos continues to marvel at Neymar despite the fact that he may never get that chance to play alongside the 23-year-old forward.
"Neymar is a great player who can make the difference," said Ramos to Manda Pelotas recently.
But he is also aware that anything can happen in the sport. It may not materialize now but could in the future.
"Football is unpredictable and there will always be transfer rumours,” adds Ramos.
He does however made it clear that while Neymar could go that path, he is someone who will never end up joining Barcelona via ESPN FC.
Neymar had reportedly met with the Real Madrid delegation prior to the 2015 Ballon d’Or gala in Zurich. It was here where transfer rumors came out though the Brazilian star denied any meeting of whatsoever.
Word about his possible transfer also got boosted when former player Roberto Carlos came out in the open to declare that he could reel in Neymar to Real Madrid. Carlos singled out his good relationship with the budding star, which could help lure Neymar but eventually said that it was all a joke via separate report from ESPN FC.
"It's impossible," Roberto Carlos said. "I only said what I said as a joke and someone took it seriously.
Something that should put a stop to all those claims is the fact that coach and manager Luis Enrique says that he expects Neymar to sign a fresh pact with Barcelona soon.
Neymar was seen by some as the possible successor of resident star Cristiano Ronaldo, who has been linked to several teams recently. Ronaldo was rumored to be allegedly joining Manchester United, Paris Saint-Germain or even consider a move to MLS.
For his part, Ramos hopes that all these talks about Ronaldo stay as rumors. He hopes to see Ronaldo stay in Bernabeu, capping that by saying that 30-year-old forward is a real star.
"As Madrid captain, I would like to see Cristiano here for many more years," he added. "He is a real star."
From where things stand now, Real Madrid may want to pay more attention to Ronaldo than a wish of snagging Neymar from Barcelona. The worse thing that can happen is that Real Madrid ends up losing Ronaldo with nothing in exchange.
