Watch: Fan Prank Calls People as ‘Fallout 4's Shelter Salesman and It's Hilarious
“Fallout 4” is getting a lot of hype and positive reviews since its launch late in 2015. Gamers and YouTubers have also been busy toggling with some of the game aspects, with one using the sound clips of the Vault-Tec rep to prank call people. The result was hilarious.
According to Kotaku, YouTube user ICEnJAM used the sound clips of the Vault-Tec representative that gamers will find at the start of “Fallout 4.” ICEnJAM used the same lines to cold-call strangers, who apparently have not played the game or are completely unaware of it. The joke was quite compelling since the sales agent did not sound like a character in an actual video game, so people actually think that they are being offered a variety of weird items.
The video lasted four minutes with the Vault-Tec rep initially greeting the person on the other line, who is completely uninformed about the company.
“Why we’re about you, sir! And helping secure your future,” the rep explained. The character continued that the underground fallout shelter has all the amenities of a modern home, including total protection from nuclear radiation and hostile mutants. The caller responded that he was not interested. A couple of other people hung up in the middle of the conversation, while another was screaming back that he does not need a fallout shelter.
One interesting potential client, however, took the time to answer the fictional Generalized Occupational Aptitude Test (GOAT), where the representative stated that he has been pre-selected to enter the vault after answering a number of questions. The man obliged and actually answered everything, stating that he would use drugs and alcohol to treat a hand growing out of his stomach and to shoot a person if he were given a pistol and asked to. He was informed at the end that he passed the test and gained access to the vault.
GameSpot wrote that it was not the first time that ICEnJAM made a video of prank calls by game characters. Before, he also used lines from titles like “Fallout 3,” “Grand Theft Auto V,” “Mafia II” and “The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.” The lines from “Fallout 4” would have been believable, except for the “mutants” part.
Fortune called “Fallout 4” one of the most anticipated games of 2015. The post-apocalyptic open world game raked in over $750 million in only 24 hours when it launched.
More prank calls by ICEnJAM are expected soon.
