LeBron James admits that he is a fan of Cam Newton, though the Carolina Panthers’ quarterback may have to set the records straight on what actual position the Cleveland Cavaliers player really is.

James was apparently pointing to that interview where Newton was asked if he was the “Lebron of the NFL. Rather than address it, Newton replied, “Why can't LeBron be called the Cam Newton of power forwards?"

Obviously, James has been keeping tabs of the Super Bowl and came across that statement. He immediately straightened that out and said that he is not a power forward (James plays small forward).

Just like Newton, James was asked if he was the “Newton of the NBA”. His answer: "I'm LeBron of the NBA," via Sporting News.

At 6-foot-8 and weighting 250 lbs, James could certainly pass as a power forward (if he wanted to). However, James is comfortable playing the small forward spot, so the only way that he could change his position is maybe if he starts to slow down.

To his credit, James did play some football during his earlier years. Unfortunately, he found that the game was something that wasn’t meant for him.

"My left tackle wasn't that good. So I gave that up really, really fast."

One thing that both James and Newton share is that their physique is uncanny for the positions that they play in their respective sport.

James can play multiple positions, even guard at times if he wants to. However, right now it seems he is content with the small forward spot, something he has been playing a lot of lately.

On the other end, Newton stands 6-foot-5 and weights about 245 lbs. Despite all that, his speed has been uncharacteristic, and playing the quarterback with those metrics makes him all the more special.

James has obviously been keeping tabs on Newton and believes that he is one tough guy to stop compared to other quarterbacks in the NFL.

“…combined with his IQ, combined with his speed, his power and combined with the great guys surrounding him, that makes it very tough [to defend him]," said James via ESPN.

Newton is a heavy favorite to be the Super Bowl 50 MVP this coming weekend as the Panthers take on the Peyton Manning-led Denver Broncos.

Newton and the Panthers are favorites to win it all, something credited to their marvelous run this NFL seasons. All that, however, depends on what kind of defensive matrix the Broncos will be putting up, something that they are best known for to make up for the mismatch on the offensive end.
