Samsung Galaxy S5 Release Rumors and News: S5 Prime Smartphone to Launch in June
Samsung's premium Galaxy S5 may be coming out sooner than expected. According to South Korean news outlet Asia Today, the premium Galaxy S5 will come out sometime in June and will focus on European and American markets to sell its ultra-premium device.
The new premium phone will be called the Galaxy S5 Prime. It will have an extremely high-resolution, 1440x2560 pixel screen (up from 1080x1920 pixels), with pixels so small you won't be able to pick them out with the naked eye, the Australian Financial Review said.
It will also come with an extremely fast processor in the form of an octa-core Exynos 5430 processor running at 2.1GHz.
Perhaps the biggest feature of Samsung's new premium phone is its updated design. Reports claim that the Galaxy S5 Prime might come with a metal body rather than Samsung's trademark plastic body.
News of the S5 Prime has come fairly quickly given the very recent release of Samsung's Galaxy S5 just earlier this month.
The current Galaxy S5 is designed with Samsung's signature plastic body and features several different colors for its consumers including black, blue, white and gold. The S5 is also water and dust resistant. It is rated IP67 which means that it is good for up to 30 minutes in a meter of water, Androidcentral.com reported.
Don't drop your phone in the ocean though, the GS5's water-resistant capabilities are primarily for spillages and accidents rather than heavy-duty underwater use unlike its competitors, such as Sony, which actively promotes its Xperia Z series for underwater photography.
Samsung also offers a wireless charging back for the GS5, allowing owners to charge through a Qi-compatible charging pad without fussing around with port protectors.
Will Samsung users drop the S5 for the S5 Prime when it's released later in June? We'll just have to wait and see.
