Gwyneth Paltrow’s Alleged Stalker Sends 'Iron Man' Actress Malicious Gifts
On Monday, Gwyneth Paltrow testified against the man accused of stalking her. The actress revealed that the man sent her disturbing and malicious letters, some were even pornographic toys.
Page Six reported that the Oscar-winning actress experienced the scary attention of Dante Soiu since 1999. The current case, however, is focused on the 66 letters she received from 2009 up to 2015.
The actress was the first to take the witness stand during the trial. She said the accused threatened her with bodily harm through the letters, writing that he wanted to cleanse her of sin.
Included in the letters were sex toys and pornography, alarming the actress even more. Disturbingly, the man also said he wanted to marry the actress. He even gifted her with a pair of earrings on Christmas of 2009.
The actress could not help but broke down a bit as she relayed the trauma Soiu subjected her through the years.
Sydney Morning Herald reported that she admitted she also feared for her children.
"I'm scared because the communications completely defy logic," she said. "I've been dealing with this for 17 years with the communications from this man."
In the opening address, Deputy District Attorney Wendy Segall said that Soiu completely damaged Paltrow's sense of security.
Apart from that small display of emotions however, Paltrow remained calm and collected throughout the rest of the trial. Her time at the witness stand lasted for two and a half hours.
This is not the first time the man was sued for his behavior with regard to Paltrow. He was already sued in 2000 and was found not guilty because he was deemed insane. He was sent to a mental institution instead, where he stayed for several years and then released.
Last year, he was re-arrested because he started to communicate with the actress again.
Soiu is currently pleading not guilty for all the allegations. His camp said the letters were innocent and did not contain the pornographic materials that Paltrow's camp is describing.
His attorney, Lynda Westlund, said her client was a devout Christian, who was only trying to counsel the actress.
Paltrow recently made the headlines with regard her "conscious uncoupling" with ex-husband and Coldplay's frontman Chris Martin, who is currently trending for Coldplay's performance at the "Super Bowl 50" halftime show.
The Coldplay frontman just revealed to Rolling Stone that he and Paltrow remained friends after the divorce. He added that he had a "very wonderful separation-divorce."
Here is a candid video of the actress admitting her divorce:
