Despite being listed as one of the richest persons in the world, mining mogul Germán Larrea Mota-Velasco still has this amazing characteristic of hating to be in the spotlight. Having privacy while becoming a great person is difficult to achieve but Germán has nailed it.

In fact, he had kept his privacy and mystery for years that only few people know what he really looks like. Basic facts about him are also sketchy. According to The Richest, Germán's journey toward fortune and success started in 1978 when he founded the printing and publishing company Grupo Impresa. He became its Chairman and CEO until 1989 when he decided to sell the company. Later on he became the Director of Banco Nacional de Mexico which was a part of the Consejo Mexicano de Hombres, Grupo Financiero Banamex and Grupo Televisa.

In 1999, he became the Chairman of the Board of Southern Copper Corporation, CEO by December 1999 to 2004 and the member of Board of Directors from Nov. 1999. He also became the Chairman of Board of Directors and CEO of Grupo Ferroviario Mexicano since 1997 and of Compania Perforador Mexico, Fondo Inmobiliario, Empresarios Industriales de Mexico and Mexico Compania Constructora since 1992.

His enigmatic and reclusive personality did not hinder Germán to succeed and become a billionaire in the business field. Fact is, his mining business is now considered as Mexico's largest mining corporation and his copper business has also become the world's third largest copper producer.

At present, Germán is Chairman of the Board of Directors, President and CEO of Grupo Mexico since 1994. His company has three major units-Americas Mining Corporation, Infraestructura y Transportes and Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacifico. Germán and his family own 51 percent of their mining company which has 13 operating mines in Peru, Mexico and Chile. Aside from their copper and mining business, German is also the owner of about 5,000 kilometers or 71 percent of Mexico's railroads which runs across the country.

The Mexican businessman and CEO of Grupo Mexico has an estimated net worth of $9.5 billion as of January 2016. German is also considered as the 30th richest individual in the world and the third richest person in Mexico. He was born in Mexico City, Mexico in July 8, 1941.
