Two wrestling icons are set to mix it up and the curious thing here is that it will not happen on any of their affiliated brands.

The two individuals in mention are former WWE stars Kurt Angle and Rey Mysterio.

Angle recently concluded his contract with TNA Wrestling but has not officially retired. The former Olympic gold medalist ended his contract with TNA after 10 years.

The TNA Hall of Famer revealed that he wanted to take some time off from wrestling and that he was not completely shutting the doors for a possible return.

“I just want to take a break and get away from wrestling. I've been doing it for so long. I made up my mind last year when I signed with TNA for one year,” said Angle via Wrestling Inc.

With that still up in the air, Angle’s set tiff with a former WWE comrade Rey Mysterio comes a bit of a surprise.

The two will lock it up at an upcoming show for UR Fight Promotion which will also includes other interesting cards that includes one with Ken Shamrock and Dan Severn, and Michael Bisping taking on Chael Sonnen. Aside from those fights, Roy Jones, Jr. will also be boxing with a fan that is titled "The $100,000 Challenge" via 411Mania.com.

The event will take place on March 20 at the Celebrity Theatre in Phoenix, Arizona and will be aired via IPPV.

As far as Angle is concerned, it looks like the former Olympic medal-winning champion is up and good. There were anxious moments during his farewell tour in the U.K. where he may have suffered a concussion. He was eventually cleared at the time and seems to be well and good via Wrestlezone.

On the other end, Mysterio is someone who has since been making waves in the AAA until a recent contract dispute seems to have made their working relationship sour.

Just recently, MLW Radio Podcast revealed that the former WWE champion was contemplating on a return to the WWE scene in light of the current financial dispute. AAA is reportedly behind in payments and Mysterio has been holding out.

Though that remains unsettled, Mysterio will be taking on something different instead in the UR Fight promotion which should be a pretty interesting setto.

Both have been previously linked to a possible return to the WWE, a big shot in the arm the company needs right now. With most stars in sick bay and unstable ratings, adding these two WWE legends at some point could be something the WWE fans will approve.
