'Star Wars Episode VIII' Update: Will Obi Wan Reprise His Role?
"Star Wars" fans were thrilled upon knowing that one of their favorite characters will be making a comeback. Fan theories and movie spoilers continually flocked the headlines, building up the excitement.
"Star Wars Episode VIII" won't hit the big screen until 2017. However, "Star Wars" fans have already been gathering details that can help track Rey and Finn's back stories.
Fans were baffled with the new characters, Finn and Rey, as to where they came from and how they would end up as the story progresses. Though countless fan theories pointed out that Rey was a Skywalker, some fans would argue otherwise.
Star Wars News Net reported that Ewan McGregor will be making a comeback. It claimed that McGregor will reprise his role as Obi Wan Kenobi.
Aside from Obi Wan Kenobi's return, Movie Pilot also divulged some spoilers that kept the fans guessing. The website stated that the new characters, Rey and Finn, might use the dark side of the force.
Additionally, it was mentioned that there's a huge possibility that Rey is Obi Wan Kenobi's decedent. It was also stated that she's a "jedi on training" simply because her Force opened up sooner than expected, which gave enough strength to defeat Kylo Ren. Though it was unclear as to why she could not recall most of her past, her story is said to be unfolded on the ninth episode of the "Star Wars" series.
Meanwhile, actor John Boyega revealed what fans could expect in the upcoming "Star Wars Episode VIII." During his interview with British Vogue, Boyega stated that the next episode would be darker than "The Force Awakens."
"It's great. Much darker," Boyega said. "...but we're very excited."
J.J. Abrams, on the other hand, stated during an interview with Entertainment Weekly that he does not want to reveal anything about "Star Wars Episode VIII" because he does not want to upset director Rian Johnson, who is set to helm the forthcoming film. "The last thing I'm going to do is reveal something that he would be upset about," he said. "I want to make sure that Rian gets the courtesy that he showed me. But it may not be coming until even later than that. "
"Star Wars Episode VIII" will premiere on Dec. 17, 2017.
