Selena Gomez Comes to Taylor Swift's Defense in Latest Kanye West Dispute
Selena Gomez is coming to the defense of pal Taylor Swift in her recently reignited battle with Kanye West.
"She's killing it and she kind of always has been," E! Online reports Gomez told Sirius XM after being quizzed about the validity of West's boast in his new "Famous" single that he made the "Shake It Off Singer" singer famous.
"I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex," Kim Kardashian's husband raps in his new tune before waxing, "Why, I made that bi**h famous/ God damn / I made that bi**ch famous,"
Gomez Insists Swift has Always Been a Star
While Gomez conceded West is more than entitled to his own opinion, she seemed to dismiss his rant by adding, "At the end of the day, you can just do what you do."
Besides their long-running friendship, Hollywood Life reports Gomez and Swift are now rumored to be contemplating writing a song together. The two have already starred in several videos side by side.
Meanwhile, reaction to West's apparent diss of the "Bad Blood" singer has been swift and direct. Austin Swift recently posted a video of him throwing out a pair of Yeezy sneakers in support of his sister.
For his part, West has insisted that he "called Taylor" and "told her about the line" in the song well in advance of its release and she even "thought it was funny."
Sources close to Swift dispute that version of events, claiming he only phoned to ask her to release "Famous" on her Twitter account. A rep for her adds she declined and went as far as to warn him about releasing a song with such a "misogynistic message."
West and Swift's Feud Goes Back Years
West and Swift's on-again, off-again feud dates all the way back to 2009, when West jumped onstage at the VMA Awards during Swift's acceptance speech for Best Female Video for "You Belong With Me" to proclaim the award should have gone to Beyonce for "Single Ladies."
