Fifth Harmony New Single Release Date Announced
Fans waiting for a hint of what Fifth Harmony's sophomore album will sound like will be happy to know an official release date has been announced for the album's first single.
On Feb. 12, L.A. Reid announced the date for the group's first single after a fan tweeted at the CEO of Epic Records asking when listeners could expect a new song.
What's the name of this new single? Several reports have speculated the single may be a track penned by Tinashe called "She's My Girl."
In a December interview with Spin, Tinashe confirmed she wrote the song for the group and revealed that is was being considered for the first single off of their new album. Tinashe's involvement with the group's new album was supported by group member Lauren Jauregui, who shared her admiration for the singer with Spin.
"She has really sick melody flows and lyrics," Jauregui said. "It's very cohesive with us. It's drawing from the same experience. That's what's important at the end of the day: having an authentic sound and having someone who understands what we're going through."
While it's not clear yet if the song was in fact chosen as the lead single, given Tinashe's own success with tracks like "2 On," "All Hands on Deck" and "Player," a song written by the singer may be the right choice for the group, who are looking to move in a different direction musically.
According to Billboard, the group also worked with pop star Meghan Trainor, as well as producers Max Martin and Dr. Luke, to bring something new to the table musically.
“We’ve been wanting to work with Max for a while, and his camp as well," Jauregui told Billboard. "They’ve produced some of the best records of all time, year after year, consistently. They’re so talented and creative, and there’s real camaraderie and positivity.”
Fifth Harmony may have also given fans a clue of what the new song's music video may look like. They shared a photo of themselves on Twitter that showed a few trailers in a desert location.
The photo of the group was accompanied by the caption "back to work."
Days later, a few other photos from the group's music video shoot circulated on social media, revealing a possible post-apocalyptic theme.
