Anderson Silva Believes Jose Aldo, Rafael dos Anjos Can Beat Conor McGregor
Anderson Silva has high regards and respect towards Conor McGregor, though he does have a small warning for the Irishman when it comes to drawing the ire of Brazilians.
McGregor has been building quite a reputation against his Brazilian co-fighters, something that started with Jose Aldo last year.
Everyone knows that the two have had a pretty animated rivalry (via The Daily Mirror) even though McGregor got the upper hand when he defeated "Scarface" in just 13 seconds at UFC 194 last December, per the Daily Mail. The said match opened the doors for McGregor to try his luck in other divisions, specifically the lightweight class. He will get that chance this March and will see how tough Aldo’s friend and current champion, Rafael dos Anjos, truly is.
Unlike Aldo, dos Anjos has kept his cool, though interviews more or less show the rage waiting to explode from the Brazilian as reported via USA Today. He promises to unleash that fire at UFC 197 when both combatants face off.
A third Brazilian was inadvertently tied up to the insults that McGregor delivered towards dos Anjos, heavyweight champion Fabricio Werdum. He did say that if he was given that kind of a treatment, he would have slapped the Irishman right then and there, MMA Fighting reports.
But McGregor has been known to always hit back and he did just that after winning the Fighter of the Year award despite the fact he was not physically there. McGregor hurled the insults via pre-recorded video as posted by MMA Fighting.
So that makes three Brazilians that McGregor has gotten himself technically entangled it at the moment. Would doing so be wise?
Another Brazilian who could soon be joining the mix is Anderson Silva.
Silva, who will be facing Michael Bisping at UFC Fight Night 84 at the O2 Arena in London later this month, warns McGregor not to mess with Brazilians, per MMA News. He singles out the case of Chael Sonnen, who tried to also get into the mind of the "Spider" but failed. In fact, Sonnen lost twice to Silva via MMA News.
Sonnen and McGregor are different fighters but at some point, someone will get his number. It could be dos Anjos or whoever may be next for the "Notorious."
"I think both Jose Aldo and Rafael dos Anjos can beat him. I also think that Conor McGregor should really be careful about what he says about Brazilians because the last person who spoke about a Brazilian, it didn't end too well for him," Silva added as quoted by MMA News.
So far, dos Anjos has not shown any effects despite low-blow insults hurled his way, which could be a good sign. On paper, dos Anjos has the advantage and the only way that he may probably lose is if he allows McGregor to get into his head, similar to what he did with Aldo.
