‘Pirates of the Caribbean 5’ Spoilers 2016: 3 Exciting Scoops About Upcoming Sequel ‘Dead Men Tell No Tales’
Disney and Johnny Depp fans are definitely dying for the latest scoop on the upcoming "Pirates" sequel, "Pirates of the Caribbean 5: Dead Men Tell No Tales."
Film director Joachim Ronning posted the most recent update on the film on his Instagram account. On his post, Ronning revealed that the film is currently in post-production. And on the comment sections, fans were quick to ask the director about the rumors regarding the film, especially the rumored demise of a character, while another commented about the editing of the film.
In addition, there are also speculations about Depp's character, Captain Jack Sparrow, who will be taking a backseat in the upcoming sequel. And fans will be seeing Depp less and more of Captain Salazar, the character played by actor Javier Bardem.
Since "Pirates of the Caribbean 5: Dead Men Tell No Tales" is in post-production, here are three exciting scoops we've learned about the upcoming sequel.
1. "Pirates of the Caribbean 5" New Release Date
The upcoming "Pirates" sequel has a new release date. According to Ronning, instead of its original July 7, 2017 release date, the film will now premiere on May 26, 2017, Memorial Day, which was the domain of "Star Wars" franchise for almost four decades.
"PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: Dead Men Tell No Tales has a new release date! #pirates5 #052617 #memorialdayweekend #savethedate," Ronning posted on Instagram.
2. "Pirates of the Caribbean 5" Synopsis
"Thrust into an all-new adventure, a down-on-his-luck Captain Jack Sparrow finds the winds of ill-fortune blowing even more strongly when deadly ghost pirates led by his old nemesis, the terrifying Captain Salazar (Bardem), escape from the Devil's Triangle, determined to kill every pirate at sea... including him," the synopsis read.
"Captain Jack's only hope of survival lies in seeking out the legendary Trident of Poseidon, a powerful artifact that bestows upon its possessor total control over the seas."
3. "Pirates of the Caribbean 5" Cast
Aside from Depp and Bardem, "The Giver" actor Brenton Thwaites and "The Maze Runner" star Kaya Scodelario will be featured in the sequel. Geoffrey Rush, Kevin McNally and Martin Klebba are all returning for another doze of pirate adventure. However, the biggest "Pirate" comeback is Orlando Bloom, who will reprise his role as Will Turner.
Meanwhile, Depp has recently talked about his acting career and how he landed the role of Sparrow during an interview with Collider.
"It probably lasted about 37 seconds," Depp said about his meeting with Disney executives regarding Sparrow's role, before adding, "Originally, he was written as a swashbuckler who comes in and saves the day..."
"I toyed with the idea of what it might be like to live with some species of heatstroke that maybe didn't go away all that quickly," he continued. "So, to be able to keep things like that in my head, when I'm going to do a film for Disney, I'd been through the ringer. That was like infiltrating the enemy camp. I wasn't able to stop smiling. So, that's how the character was born, and that's how I almost got fired."
Depp has already finished filming his scenes and "Pirates of the Caribbean 5: Dead Men Tell No Tales" is slated to be released on May 26, 2017 in Australia and the U.S., while "Star Wars: Episode VIII" was moved to Dec. 15, 2017.
