Several fans are surprised after seeing Sam Smith's recent photos. The English singer-songwriter has lost an incredible amount of weight that triggered rumors claiming he could be anorexic.

The "Lay Me Down" singer revealed that he was struggling with weight loss since he was a kid. He felt that he had a huge built ever since. When his father became a fitness trainer when he was 12, his dad tried to help him shed extra pounds but his flabs remained.

Smith raised eyebrows earlier concerning his health when he commented about one of his photos. "I saw a picture of me on New Year's Eve topless on a beach in Sydney and it made me want to kill myself," he confessed.

Some suspect that Smith is anorexic. However, the Grammy winner shed the extra pounds in a healthy way.

Smith lost 50 pounds with low carb Paleo-style diet. In March 2015, he lost 14 pounds in 14 days and he lost an additional 36 pounds afterwards. The low-carb Paleo diet is an alcohol-free diet that emphasizes healthy fats, high-quality animal proteins and non-starchy vegetables. It excludes gluten, sugar, dairy, legumes and processed foods.

Many are concerned that he had gotten too skinny, but the "Like I Can" singer reveals that he feels great with his new built. Smith stresses that finding ways to be healthy makes one so much happier. That's what he feels, and he is encouraging others to do the same.

Smith added that he no longer overeats.

The artist credited his rapid weight loss to British nutritionist Amelia Freer.

"Three weeks ago I met a woman who has completely changed my life," he wrote. "Amelia Freer has helped me lose over a stone in 2 weeks and has completely transformed my relationship with food. Everyone go check out her incredible book, and start to live healthy. It's not even about weight loss it's about feeling happy in yourself."

The "How Will I Know" singer claimed that losing weight is great, but feeling good is better. He used to be a couch potato, but his weight loss inspired him to work out regularly.

Although Smith has already shed the extra weight that has been bugging him for years, he admits that the process is still challenging. "I love food so much so it's a constant battle. It's always going to be a battle, but I'm trying my best," he said in an interview.

Now, Smith looks better than he ever was, and he is happy with his health and built.
