Can You Guess Which 'Scarface' Character Sofia Vergara Likes Best?
The film "Scarface" had a significant impact on Sofia Vergara's life so much that she named her child after her favorite character in the 1983 movie.
The Colombian actress' 23-year-old son, Manolo, was named after Manolo "Manny" Ribera, also known as Manny Ray, in "Scarface." The character, which was played by Steven Bauer, is best friends with Tony Montana (Al Pacino) and works alongside him in their cocaine business in Miami.
This week, Vergara, 43, was spotted filming her hit ABC show "Modern Family" in Los Angeles along with co-stars Ariel Winter (Alex Dunphy) and Ty Burrell (Phil Dunphy).
Vergara portrays Gloria, who is married to Jay, the Pritchett family's patriarch. Gloria is seen as the over-protective mother of Manny Delgado (Rico Rodriguez) and Joe Pritchett (Jeremy Maguire).
"Modern Family" is now in its seventh season and has bagged awards during its run. Julie Bowen, Sarah Hyland, Jesse Tyler Ferguson and Eric Stonestreet also star in the comedy series.
Sofia Vergara Performs with Pitbull at the Grammy Awards
On Monday, Feb. 15, Vergara was invited by Pitbull to join him onstage during his performance at the 58th Annual Grammy Awards.
Vergara entered the stage as Pitbull was performing his song "El Taxi." The actress, who donned a short lamé gold dress, a driver's hat and a taxi cab costume, shook her hips in sync with the recording artist.
Vergara and Pitbull have been friends for a long time. The latter even performed at Vergara's wedding with "Magic Mike XXL" hunk Joe Manganiello last November.
Earlier this month, the TV star said in an interview for The Edit magazine that she doesn't mind being objectified. During the 2014 Emmys, Vergara appeared in a sketch where she was made to stand on a revolving platform while wearing a sexy dress as Academy CEO Bruce Rosenbloom talked about the organization's achievements and diversification. Organizers said that it was an act of objectification, but Vergara insisted that she felt the opposite.
"I've never understood why women get so offended [by being objectified]," she shared. "I just don't believe in all that drama, which is why I've made a whole joke out of it. I am secure enough not to take it all that seriously, and I like to laugh at myself. My husband was a male stripper in Magic Mike XXL -- do you think he was offended by [the objectification]? I thought it was hilarious."
Vergara also discussed accepting ageing, saying that watching herself onscreen makes her anxious.
"It just makes me want to kill myself, but what can I do? I'll be sad when the wolf-whistles stop," she added.
