There is no doubt that the most anticipated book at this time is George RR Martin's "The Winds of Winter." Unfortunately, it has been over four years of waiting and counting, yet the book is still not available.

Book Scheduled Before "Game of Thrones" Season 6

In Apr. 2015, Martin confirmed that he wanted to finish "The Winds of Winter" before "Game of Thrones" season 6 premieres. In fact, he wanted the book to be out by that time. The New-Mexican author even canceled two conventional appearances and turned down several interviews to concentrate on the book.

"The Winds of Winter" Is Still Not Available

Although Martin refrained from releasing the official release date of the book, fans were expecting it at the end of 2015 or early 2016 because the celebrity author had announced his desire to finish the book before "Got" Season 6, which is scheduled to return to the small screens in April.

Unfortunately, the 67-year-old author crushed the hearts of "The Winds of Winter" fans when he announced on his blog that the book is still not finished. He explained that the delay of the book disappointed many, including his editors, publishers, translators and HBO. However, no one is more disappointed that himself.

He stressed that he had been yearning to hear himself say that the book is finished before the last day of 2015 but he fell short of his target.

Martin Concentrates on the Book

Now, Martin is concentrating on the book again. A new report suggests that the popular author will not be writing any other book until he finishes the long overdue sixth book of "A Song of Ice and Fire."

Martin expressed his dedication to finishing "The Winds of Winter" when asked by one of his fans if he will be writing for "GoT" Season 7.

"I am not writing anything until I deliver WINDS OF WINTER. Teleplays, screenplays, short stories, introductions, forewords, nothing," Martin responded. "And I've dropped all my editing projects but Wild Cards."

Book Delayed

Martin announced that the book will not be available anytime soon, which triggered the rumors that it might be delayed until 2017.

Meanwhile, Conan O'Brien mocked Martin's slow progress in getting the book done. The anchor claimed that he hacked into the celebrity author's security camera to check what he has been doing and if he has indeed been working on "The Winds of Winter."

The funny clip features an actor dressed like Martin and it shows the author playing with a knife, shopping around for a mattress, beating a piñata, driving around the streets and doing everything other than writing.
