Showtime 'Homeland' Season 4 Cast News and Rumors: Show Will Premiere With New Setting, Retired Characters and Many Questions
"Homeland" may be off the air at the moment, but that doesn't mean that you can't binge-watch the first three seasons. However, if you've already watched and re-watched the series countless times, you're undoubtedly itching for new content. season 4 drops in the fall, but until then, let's take a look at all the rumors swirling around.
First, what will be the impact of season 4's new locale, Istanbul, Turkey? More sprawling, and arguably just as political as "Homeland's" prior Washington D.C. setting, Istanbul is literally an infusion of "East meets West" culture.
Also, what will happen to Carrie Mathison next season? Pregnant and unofficially widowed due to her lover Brody's death by hanging, she has a lot of important choices to make. Lots of speculation has been swirling regarding whether Carrie will keep the baby or give it up.
Speaking with TV Guide, show runner Alex Gansa had some interesting things to say about his prized creation:
"At what point does she [Carrie] move on, if ever? Is she going to find some sort of emotional connection with another man, or is she going to subsume all of that into her career? These are all interesting questions. How significant is this relationship with Brody, and is it one she can transcend?"
Another man would be interesting, but fans fretted over Mathison and Brody's relationship. The show nearly became ruined by their tumultuous love affair. Would going down that same path be wise?
Also, a cast shakeup is on tap. Brody's brood (wife and daughter) won't be written off the show completely, but expect them to have a significantly reduced role going forward. Some other characters won't make the move to Istanbul as well. In season 4, Carrie will be assembling a team to assist her in establishing a covert, yet powerful, CIA presence in their newly-adopted city. Alas, who she chooses is only a guess right now.
