Why Ronda Rousey vs. Holly Holm Rematch May Not Happen This 2016
Ronda Rousey seems to be uncertain if she is ready for round two against reigning UFC Women’s bantamweight champion Holly Holm. The mixed martial arts fighter and actress continue to rebuild her confidence after her loss.
Just recently, Rousey came out in the open to reveal the real score on what happened between now and that fateful UFC 193. The revelation was as shocking as her second round knockout loss.
The deposed champion recently revealed that she considered suicide, and it took the words of Travis Browne to get her back to her senses. With that episode out of the way, is Rousey ready to return to the Octagon to redeem herself against the Australian champion?
Right now, the answer to that seems unlikely. While Rousey has been seen hitting the gym once more, an exclusive report reveals that the former UFC champion is not quite mentally prepared for the rematch.
“As much as she wants to get her revenge on Holly she still isn’t ready mentally for that fight,” an insider claimed.
The best way to define Rousey now is floating. She is unsure if she can return successfully and avoid another offensive from Holm. She has yet to regain her confidence.
“She wants to film more movies and do a few more media related things to get into the good graces of people and her fans again and then she’ll worry about the fight," the source added.
Rousey drew positive and negative support from critics and fans, mostly due to the character she portrayed prior to the UFC 193 showdown. On the outside, Rousey seemed like she was okay, but many questioned the psychological impact the loss had on her.
So with that said, can Rousey find a way to get herself ready for the much-awaited rematch in 2016? A lot of it depends on how she conditions her mind in the coming months.
Rousey will be busy fulfilling Hollywood commitments and making appearances, which could help. While these can take her mind off her infamous loss, conditioning herself for another physical showdown with Holm is a different task.
Time is the element that the UFC nor Rousey cannot control, which brings up a dark forecast on whether UFC fans will see the rematch this year. Better yet, it remains unknown if Rousey can ever recover the confidence that made her one of the biggest names in the UFC.
Rousey will eventually get things back together. However, if one thinks of the pressure of fighting in 2016, Rousey could end up with the same fate if her mind is not in the fight.
It is interesting what UFC president Dana White has to say to this and if he believes the latest revelation tied up to his prized star.
