Series director Katsura Hashino revealed new details about "Persona 5" in the March 2016 issue of the Persona magazine.

Here's what you can expect from Atlus' upcoming game.

Characters

The majority of the game's characters are categorized, unhappy outcasts with a biased point of view of the world. However, the game's introduction will showcase these characters defying the status quo and improving their craft.

Listed below are the characters to be featured in the game.

  • Ryuji Sakamoto: This character with a "let's change the world" motto will drive the hero to go aboard phantom thieving. Ryuji, whose voice is provided by Mamoru Miyano, is described as "insistent, but kind on the inside." His Persona, named Captain Kidd, also complements Ryuji's background and chapter.
  • Ann Takamaki: This character, who is part American, is admired in Japan but has troubles making friends, which leads to her being isolated from her peers. Her bright personality, however, makes her stand out from the group. Her Persona, Carmen, is described as a fierce woman. An incident concerning Ann will also push the hero and Ryuji to go on a fight in the other world. That being said, Ann will heavily influence the fate of the protagonists.
  • Morgana: This character bears resemblance to Teddie from "Persona 4." Aside from helping the hero travel the other world, Morgana is responsible for training protagonists as phantom thieves. Morgana's real world form is of an ordinary cat, but her Persona, Zorro, exudes a bold aura.
  • Yusuke Kitagawa: Described as an "eccentric" character, Yusuke is a talented painter and is also an art scholarship student.

Setting

Each story in the game's dungeons and levels will be unique from each other.

For "Persona 5," Atlus incorporated contemporary drama to make the game more entertaining. This will be evident in the "phantom thieves" theme. The developer also chose Tokyo as the game's setting.
