Floyd Mayweather Not Among Injured in LA Car Wreck
The Money Team, Floyd Mayweather Jr.’s entourage, got into a major car accident on the Los Angeles freeway recently, and at least one was critically injured.
The accident reportedly happened at around 10 p.m. Tuesday night. Three of The Money Team vans were traveling east and one of the vehicles reportedly hit an 18-wheeler.
One of the passengers in the van, which collided, got badly hurt and may reportedly lose one of his eyes. The injuries of the one driving the van have yet to be revealed though he may have been lucky to escape with minor injuries based on a TMZ video footage.
Luckily, Floyd Mayweather Jr. was in the second van, which was not involved in the said accident.
Happy 39th Birthday Floyd Mayweather Jr.!
The undefeated boxer was celebrating his 39th birthday, flying in Tuesday. He was headed back to Las Vegas at the time of the accident.
Mayweather has been taking it easy ever since retiring back in September. Now a year older, boxing fans are still awaiting word on whether the undefeated boxer has plans to break the 49-0 deadlock he now shares with boxing legend Rocky Marciano.
His most recent rant included a claim that he could easily defeat Gennady Golovkin if he were to face the Kazakh knockout artist.
"Triple G, not being disrespectful, but he's straight up and down, no special effects. That's easy work. With the [Manny] Pacquiao fight, you know, 10 rounds to two, that was a blowout," said Mayweather recently.
A lot of his success is attributed to the fact that Mayweather has done more running than actual boxing in the ring.
There are some who question Mayweather’s strategy though all is technically fair and legal.
While he does move a lot, it is a tactic meant to stay away from happy-punching opponents who tend to miss their target. Just the same, popular boxing icons like Manny Pacquiao, Juan Manuel Marquez and Canelo Alvarez had their chances but failed.
So is Mayweather a boxing genius or a runner?
No matter how many people may despise the tactic, the fact remains that he does engage when there are openings. It is not purely running as people term it, but a planned mode of attack.
Boxing is not entirely about power; it is merely part of the game plan. There is no rule that says that there should be a certain percentage of punches or movement so the term "running" becomes a bit vague.
For now, Mayweather will be taking a rest from "running." He has not been totally erased from boxing and people feel that he can come out of retirement at some point.
