'Ghostbusters' 2016 Movie Reboot to Feature Slimer's Backstory
Actor Michael K. Williams shares that the "Ghostbusters" movie reboot will feature Slimer, the green ghost's backstory.

Williams works alongside Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones in the rebooted film "Ghostbusters." The actor specifically plays an FBI agent who works for the mayor.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly Radio, Williams revealed that Slimer will be making an appearance in the movie.
"I'm not going to lie, working with Melissa, and Kristen, and Kate, was really dope," he said as reported by EW. "But I got to work with Slimer, dude. Like Slimer!!! I'm in a scene with Slimer! I'm a huge Ghostbusters fan and it was a dream come true."
He adds that the role is a "dream job" and that all four ladies are at the "top of their game."
Wiig plays Erin Gilbert, McCarthy plays Abby Yates, McKinnon plays Jillian Holtzmann and Jones plays Patty Tolan. According to Digital Spy, the movie has been genderflipped from the classic 1980's franchise. Other supporting actors that will be in the film are Chris Hemsworth, Andy Garcia, Neil Casey, Eliza Dushku, Charles Dance and Elizabeth Perkins.
The rebooted film is directed by Paul Feig and notable cameos from the original cast members include Bill Murray, Annie Potts, Dany Aykroyd, Sigourney Weaver and Ernie Hudson are expected.
According to Inquisitr, Neil Casey's Rowan will apparently be the film's main antagonist. However, Rowan's form as a mysterious demon remains to be seen.
Slimer's Backstory? [RUMORS]
According to a report by the Boston Herald, Slimer's backstory and how the women got the group name will be featured in the film. When the quartet is called to finish a job by eliminating a ghost, McKinnon's new Proton Pack malfunctions and leaves only the ghost's head, which apparently will be Slimer. The head apparently manages to go away and a video of them battling the ghost go viral online and the four are dubbed jokingly as the "Ghostbusters."

"Ghostbusters" will be in US theathers on July 15, 2016, Screen Crush reports.

Sony Pictures Entertainment released a teaser trailer on YouTube, which announces the movie's trailer premiere on March 3, 2016, IGN reports. The 28-second video shows new footage with the police, military guys and the franchise's popular tagline "Who You Gonna Call?"
