In an announcement made on March 1, the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce revealed that Derbez would be honored with the 2,576th star on the internationally acclaimed Hollywood Walk of Fame in Los Angeles on March 10.
Derbez, considered one of the most popular and infleuntial Latino actors, was chosen to receive the honor in the movie category for his contributions to film and philanthropy.
“The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce is extremely proud to honor one of the major Latino influencers Eugenio Derbez with a star on the Walk of Fame!” said Ana Martinez, producer of the Walk of Fame ceremonies. “Fans from around the world will be thrilled to see his star and have the opportunity to pose with it.”
The 54-year-old actor, writer, producer and director has had roles in 25 films, including "Beverly Hills Chihuahua," "Under The Same Moon," "Jack and Jill" and "Girl in Progress." He also directed and starred in "Instructions Not Included," which grossed over $100 million, making it the most successful Spanish-language film in the United States.
Derbez has also appeared in over 20 television shows and telenovelas, such as "Lazos de Amor," "Carita de ángel," "La Fea Mas Bella," "La familia P. Luche," "Vecinos" and "Anger Management."
His most recent film is “Miracles from Heaven,” which also stars Jennifer Garner and Queen Latifah and will be released on March 16.
Fans are invited to attend the ceremony. The actor has promised to hand out signed copies of "Instructions Not Included" to those who line up before the ceremony.
Celebrities confirmed to attend the ceremony include Rob Schneider, Karla Souza, Mauricio Ochmann, Alessandra Rosaldo, Martha Higareda and Consuelo Duval. Derbez's children, Aislinn Derbez, Vadhir Derbez and José Eduardo Derbez, will also be attending.
Derbez is the most recent Latino talent to get a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. In February, rock band Maná was honored with their own star.
