Donald Trump is leading in national polls. There is no doubt that the presidential aspirant has high chances of winning the Republican race for the presidency. However, another challenge is on the way. There is a brewing lawsuit against his online education company.

Fraud Lawsuit Against Trump University

Over two years ago, Attorney General Eric. T. Schneiderman filed a lawsuit against the GOP front-runner, Trump University and Michael Sexton for operating Trump University illegally.

The said school, which was also known as The Trump Entrepreneur Institute and Trump University LLC operated from 2005 to 2011 without a license. It offers to share the "investing techniques" of the prominent businessman-turned-politician. However, instead of being true to their word, they misled their consumers by giving them expensive courses without fulfilling their purpose.

"More than 5,000 people across the country who paid Donald Trump $40 million to teach them his hard sell tactics got a hard lesson in bait-and-switch," Schneiderman said.

Schneiderman believes that the businessman tycoon took advantage of his influence and popularity by luring people to take courses that did not deliver on its promise.

"No one, no matter how rich or popular they are, has a right to scam hard working New Yorkers. Anyone who does should expect to be held accountable," he added.

The case is still pending, but the $40 million lawsuit may proceed soon, Vox has learned.

Trump vs. Schneiderman

Trump fired back at Schneiderman by insisting that his school received a 98 percent satisfactory rate. Apart from this, he also filed a lawsuit against the attorney general for allegedly asking for campaign donations from her daughter Ivanka while probing the case for Trump University.

However, Trump lost his battle against Schneiderman because the state ethics commission did not support the proceedings of his complaint against the attorney general, per New York Daily News. 

Will The Lawsuit Affect Trump's Presidential Candidacy?

Despite the issues plaguing Trump, the politician remains a strong contender in the presidential bid. According to Business Insider, Trump is leading in most states based on the recent polls.

He leads by 10 points over other Republican presidential aspirants Marco Rubio and Ted Cruz in Georgia, Virginia and Oklahoma. Meanwhile, based on RealClear Politics average poll, Trump is ahead of Rubio by 18 points in Alabama and by about 20 to 30 points in Massachusetts.

Trump's Republican rival, Cruz, admitted that the former has a strong momentum, adding that the celebrity politician has already won three of the four states.

"If he continues with that momentum and powers through and wins everywhere on Super Tuesday, he could easily be unstoppable," Cruz said.

Although he sees this coming, the Senator from Texas remains negative towards Trump's victory, adding that it will be a serious oversight for the Republican party and the nation overall, CNN reported.
