It seems like Mario Kreutzberger, more commonly known by his stage name Don Francisco, is not fond of retirement. The long-time TV presenter and personality finds himself back in the fold just a few months after he announced that he's calling it quits in September 2015.

The face of the longest-running variety show in TV history, "Sábado Gigante," just reached an agreement with Telemundo, according to NBC News. Kreutzberger will be working behind the camera as a producer while appearing as a special news presenter from time to time.

Kreutzberger inked a multi-year deal that would allow him to create content that would cater primarily to Latino and international Hispanic audiences.

"I am at Telemundo's disposition, am open to doing whatever they need from me," he said in an interview with the Variety. "At the end of the day Telemundo has been the fastest-growing Spanish-language producer in the U.S. And since what I know is how to produce, it's an honor and a challenge."

Kreutzberger rose to fame as the host of "Sábado Gigante," translated as "Giant Saturday" in English, since the show started its broadcast in 1962 in Chile before airing in different countries across South America. The show eventually reached the U.S. soil in 1986. Its finale episode aired on Sept. 19, 2015.

After an uninterrupted airing for almost 53 years, the popular entertainment show was canceled by Univision in 2015. The three-hour weekly show was recognized by the Guinness World Records as the longest-running TV variety show in the world, according to a 2015 USA Today report.

Cesar Conde, chairman for NBCUniversal Telemundo and NBCUniversal International Enterprises Group, expressed his enthusiasm to have Kreutzberger on board. He also cited what the popular Chilean TV personality can bring to the company, per NBC News.

"We are very proud that he has decided to join the Telemundo family," Conde said. "His numerous contributions to our community, his extensive experience as an entertainment innovator and his unique ability to connect with world leaders reinforce our commitment to continue transforming the world of media."

For his part, the 75-year-old TV host said that he is thrilled with this new endeavor and to have the chance to work with the American media and entertainment company.

"I am extremely happy with this opportunity NBCUniversal Telemundo Enterprises is giving me," Kreutzberger said in a statement. He also expressed his approval on the positive strides that Telemundo is making to execute the company's vision and commitment.
