Newly crowned Academy Award winner Brie Larson may have just snagged the Best Actress award, but she's only getting started. There's no doubt that many great roles are in store for the talented "Room" star. Is a comic book character one of them?

A report from Omega Underground pointed out that Larson would be an excellent choice for the Marvel superhero Captain Marvel also known as Carol Danvers. Does Larson have what it takes to be the strong, complex Captain Marvel? The studio is keeping mum but there are a slew of other actresses who are reported to be in the running for the role including Emily Blunt, Charlize Theron, Katee Sackhoff, Bryce Dallas Howard and Rebecca Ferguson, per Cinema Blend.

Here are five important characteristics of actresses looking to snag the role of Danvers.

The Right Look

Blonde and blue-eyed isn't exactly a rare commodity in Hollywood, so it's easy enough to find someone that fits that bill.

According to Cinema Blend, one of the things that could work against Larson is her youth. By the time Danvers gained her superpowers in the comic books, she had already been a colonel in the Air Force, head of security in NASA and a C.I.A. spy. While a great actress, Larson, 26, might not look as experienced as Danvers should be.

Military Presence

In much the same way that it's believable for Chris Hemsworth's Thor to be a strong and superhuman alien, the actress playing Captain Marvel should look the part of a military leader. After all, her military experience is arguably the most significant quality of the character, which means that the actress taking on the part should bring to life the accomplished colonel in the big screen.

Acting Skills

With her Oscar win, Larson is certainly at the top of anyone's list acting wise. According to the official Marvel website, Captain Marvel's background includes impossible standards set by a sexist father and a brother she lost in service, so Larson's proven drama pedigree could be a good fit for the high-profile role.

Action Skills

This is one area where Larson hasn't quite proven herself at the moment as she has yet to take on a major action role. As one of the most powerful heroes in the Marvel set, it's incredibly important to have an actress who looks comfortable and natural in action sequences. Blunt and Theron, two of the best female action stars in Hollywood, might be more of a natural fit in this sense.

Chemistry

Of course, it's difficult to predict how certain actors could play alongside each other, but Larson's got a bit of an edge when it comes to the Marvel gang. The Omega Underground report says that she's currently working in "Kong: Skull Island" alongside some established Marvel actors like Tom Hiddleson and Samuel L. Jackson ("Avengers"), John C. Reilly ("Guardians of the Galaxy") and Shea Whigham ("Agent Carter").

"Captain Marvel" is slated to be released on March 8, 2019.
