The Extreme Rules card is set for Sunday night with the event taking place at the Izod Center in East Rutherford, New Jersey, and Daniel Bryan defending his WWE World Heavyweight Championship against Kane, Bray Wyatt facing John Cena in Steel Cage match, The Shield taking on Evolution in a Six-Man Tag Team match, Tamina challenging the newly-crowned WWE Divas Champion Paige and Big E defending his Intercontinental Championship against "Bad News" Wade Barrett. The Triple Threat match between Rob Van Dam, Cesaro and Jack Swagger will have a new stipulation with the bout now an Elimination Triple Threat match.

Batista, who is taking a break in the near-future to go promote the summer blockbuster "Guardians of the Galaxy" (Batista plays the role of Drax the Destroyer), is rumored to have turned down a title match against Daniel Bryan at Payback, according to PWInsider.com. The website reports that Batista did not want to take a loss to a smaller opponent before taking off to promote the Hollywood movie that will star Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper and Benicio Del Toro. Batista is scheduled to be on Raw after Extreme Rules and Tuesday's Smackdown taping, returning in time for SummerSlam.

While news of Sting signing with the WWE has reached a lull, a possible deal with Bill Golberg is still being discussed with either a Wrestlemania 31 match or a WWE Hall of Fame induction in play for the former World Championship Wrestling (WCW) champion. The plan would include Goldberg being featured in the WWE2K15 video game, much like the promotion for last year's edition of the video game which featured the Ultimate Warrior, with the promotional build-up launching at SummerSlam. Goldberg admits that he had discussions with Triple H about signing with the WWE last year though he denies that a match against Ryback was set. Goldberg was intrigued with competing at Wrestlemania 30, saying he wants his wife and kids to see him in the ring.

"Would I love to do it again and have my son and my wife, who has never seen me wrestle? Abso-damn-lutely," Goldberg said. "Would I jeopardize what I've done in the wrestling world just to make that happen? No. So if I wasn't ready to do it, physically ready to do it, and it wasn't the right situation, I wouldn't do it just to do it. If that was the case, I'd probably be at WrestleMania this year. It just has to be right and if it's not right, then I'm retired, for good."

In NXT news, Mason Ryan, Shaul Guerrero -- the daughter of Eddie and Vickie Guerrero -- Oliver Grey and Danny Burch were recently cut from the developmental roster. The cuts come on the heels of major changes set to take place with NXT. The WWE has been pleased with NXT's programming on the WWE Network and will change their tapings to air bi-weekly instead of monthly. NXT has a live event, Takeover, scheduled for May 29 that will air on the WWE Network and will feature NXT Champion Adrian Neville defending his title against Tyson Kidd, Natalya taking on Charlotte for the vacant NXT Divas championship and a number-one contenders match between Sami Zayn against Tyler Breeze.

NXT talent will also be used in the relaunched series WWE Tough Enough, which will air on the WWE Network. The series will tape out of the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida, according to Rajah.com, and will use developmental talent not working on NXT programming.

WWE legend William Regal and WWE Director of Talent Canyon Ceman recently traveled to Brazil to scout for new developmental talent, stopping at a Federacao Internacional de Luta Livre event and a Brazilian Wrestling Federation event during their trip. Regal and Ceman came away impressed with Insano Igor, Sonico, Tytan, Pezão, Prodan, Max Miller, Tim Anderson and Brutus e Xandao, with three of the wrestlers possibly getting a tryout with the WWE, according PWInsider.com.

The WWE is believed to have recently signed KENTA of NOAH in Japan. KENTA, who had a tryout in January, is a former Global Honored Champion for NOAH and has battled stateside against the likes of Daniel Bryan and TNA Wrestling's Samoa Joe during their stints with Ring of Honor. The WWE also has a standing offer for former New Japan Pro Wrestling's (NJPW) star Prince Devitt, whose contract with the Japanese wrestling organization has expired and has been promised to be fast-tracked through the NXT program if they can come through an agreement.
