Conor McGregor Insults Aldo & Dos Anjos in Lengthy Instagram Post
Conor McGregor suffered an upset submission loss against Nate Diaz at the main event of UFC 196. The reigning featherweight champion was very humble in his first career UFC defeat. However, in a lengthy Instagram post thanking his supporters, he added insults directed towards Jose Aldo and Rafael dos Anjos.
McGregor is not afraid to speak his mind regarding his rivals, as evidenced by his challenge to retired boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. Nevertheless, the defeat will probably send "Notorious" back to featherweight as Diaz proves that fighting welterweights are much harder.
"I stormed in and put it all on the line. I took a shot and missed. I will never apologize for taking a shot. Sh*t happens. I'll take this loss like a man. I will not shy away from it. I will not change who I am. If another champion goes up 2 weights let me know," McGregor wrote on Instagram.
A Message to Aldo & dos Anjos
Before taking the fight against Diaz at 170 lbs, the 27-year-old Irishman was supposed to challenge Dos Anjos’ lightweight title. However, the latter suffered a broken left foot 11 days before the fight.
As for Aldo, who lost his featherweight belt to McGregor in just 13 seconds, he called him out after his defeat to Diaz. He wrote on Twitter that he wants his rematch at UFC 200 and called “Notorious” an offensive term.
What's Next for McGregor?
At the UFC 196 post-fight press conference, McGregor said that he will go back to the division and defend his crown. He added that he could face Aldo or Frankie Edgard possibly at UFC 200 this July.
McGregor praised Edgar because he lets his heart out and compete while blasting "Scarface" for being a loser. The Irishman mentioned Aldo's words of "any time, any place, anywhere" regarding a rematch. However, he revealed that the former champ was the first choice to face him last Sunday but declined the opportunity.
"Now another man gets a victory over me and he celebrates it. That's the sign of a loser. That's the sign of a runner-up. That's not the sign of a champion," McGregor said.
The 27-year-old also insisted his desire to take away Dos Anjos' lightweight title, as well as to challenge for the welterweight championship in the future.
