'Glee' TV Show Season 5: Future of Naya Rivera in Season 6 Remains Unclear, Chris Colfer Dishes Spoilers
Don't listen to the hype, "Glee" fans. Santana Lopez has not been fired.
Last week, reports arose that Santana actress Naya Rivera was written out of the season five finale, which airs May 20. Sources also claimed that Rivera was fired, following a feud with co-star Lea Michele. Fox has cleared up the rumors, however.
"There is no truth to the rumor Naya has been fired from the show," the network told The Associated Press in a statement. "She remains under contract to 'Glee.'"
At the Saturday premiere of Michele's newest film, "Legends of Oz: Dorothys Return," her publicist said she could not comment on Rivera.
Rivera's role in season six, the show's last, remains unclear, however. According to E! News, this "has not been decided yet" as the season six cast won't be finalized until the end of June. Back in March, however, Brad Falchuk, executive producer, claimed that producers "do know exactly who is coming over and what the storylines will be." Hopefully for Santana-lovers, this hasn't changed, and Rivera's role will remain as planned.
"We love Naya and want only the best for her," a source who E! News said works for "Glee" said. "Hopefully we can work it out."
Despite the bad press, the actress has been staying positive.
"To the best fans in the world, thank you for all the [heart]! Don't ever let the he say she say get you down," she tweeted Friday. "Whether it's in school, home, or all over the Internet lol. Hold your head high, stay true to yourself, and know you are loved! Xo"
In other "Glee" news, Tuesday's episodes will feature a whole lot of Kurt Hummel, played by Chris Colfer, who is also a "Glee" writer. (SPOILER ALERT!)
"He's really one of the only ones left in the group who hasn't really made a name for himself yet, and he's feeling very down about that," Colfer dished to E! News. "So he's looking for something to supply him with that validation. He finds it when he meets this woman named Maggie who lives at an assisted living home, and he ends up joining that assisted living home's production of Peter Pan."
The episode airs at 8/7 Central on Tuesday. Season 6 of "Glee" begins in the fall.
