Chandler Parsons Open to Houston Rockets Return; Says He Has 'Great Memories There'
Chandler Parsons spent three years with the Houston Rockets and was seen as one of the cornerstones of the franchise until 2014.
He was the 38th overall pick of the 2011 NBA Draft and proved to be one of the better steals that year. One of the teams that took notice was the Dallas Mavericks, which offered him a lucrative $46 million deal.
The Surprise Twist of 2014
Seeing his potential, it was believed that the Rockets would easily match that offer to retain the services of the sweet-shooting forward. To Parsons surprise, however, the Rockets did not and he officially became a Maverick.
For his part, Parsons admitted he was offended by the process, though everyone knows that time heals all wounds. Could the 27-year-old player consider a return to the Rockets in the offseason?
Return to Houston Possible
While the whole process did seem a bit odd, it seems that Parsons holds no grudge against the Rockets.
"Houston was home for me for three years. I definitely would never count that option out. I have great memories there. They have a great crowd, a great city to live in," Parson said. "I have nothing but respect and love for them. I would never count that out."
Will Parsons Consider Joining a Troubled Houston Ballclub?
With most of the attention on the likes of Kevin Durant and Al Horford, Parsons could join the mix and test the waters. He holds a player option in the offseason and could be among the players seeking a better deal.
If Houston is an option, it will be interesting if Parsons is ready to join a team that seems to be in shambles. The Rockets are having internal issues right now, starting with the firing of Kevin McHale to the alleged rift developing between Dwight Howard and James Harden.
Other Options
If not the Rockets, Parsons could consider transferring to other teams as well. There is the Orlando Magic who are also interested in the shooting forward. The list of options for Parsons is likely to expand when the offseason comes around. Then again, the Mavericks could offer him a better contract to lessen the complications too.
Either way, Parsons will have options in the summer. He is likely to pick up the player option and follow the lead of other players seeking better pay in light of the changes in team salary budgets effective next season.
