The upcoming "Fantastic Four" movie is shaping up to be much different than the last "Fantastic Four" movies, and its cast knows it.

The reboot of "Fantastic Four" will star Jamie Bell (Ben Grimm/Thing), Kate Mara (Sue Storm/Invisible Woman), Miles Teller (Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic) and Michael B. Jordan (Johnny Storm/Human Torch).

Jordan says he knows what he's getting into.

"I grew up watching Saturday morning 'X-Men' all the time," he told ABC. "To me this is living out a dream -- playing a comic book character I grew up reading."

Still, many fans are wondering what route the film will take with such bold casting choices, especially Jordan as the Human Torch, who in the comic books is white and Sue Storm's brother.

"The movies I want to be a part of, the movies I want to see, mirror the life that I live, the world that I live in," he said. "Everything isn't black and white in the world that we live in. It's a very grounded superhero film ... it's so relatable, it mirrors the world we walk around in today."

Mara also understands that the film will differ from what both fans and even the stars may expect.

"The whole thing will be different than anything I've ever done," Mara told Manhattan magazine. "I really loved [director] Josh Trank's take on it, and I'm a fan of his last film, 'Chronicle,' which was like an anti-superhero movie-really dark, which is what I like. I like things that are rooted in reality and that are dark and not what you expect. And I think that that's probably what 'Fantastic Four' will be."

Despite this new take on the source material, Jordan knew there would be mixed reactions to his casting.

"[I got] a lot of love, also a lot of people with their own personal opinions, may not be in support, but can't make everybody happy," Jordan shared. "My job as an actor is to be prepared for the role, that's what I've always done, that's what I will continue to do ... you can't listen to the negativity, you can't let it bother you."

Meanwhile, another actor is close to joining the "Fantastic Four" movie, which also features Toby Kebbel as Doctor Doom. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Tim Blake Nelson is in "final talks" to play awkward scientist Harvey Elder, aka Mole Man. The website's sources claim Harvey's alter-ego will not be in this movie, but a future film appearance is possible.

"Fantastic Four" hits theaters summer 2015.
