Uruguay vs. Peru Game for World Cup Qualifiers - March 2016 Match Preview: Luis Suarez Looks to Continue Clutch Form
Uruguay and Peru continue their World Cup qualifying campaigns on Tuesday, March 29, 2016 in a big matchup.
Uruguay sits second in the qualifiers after getting off to a tremendous start and that only looks to get better with the return of superstar Luis Suarez.
Luis sua
The Uruguayan has become the most fearsome striker in the world, collecting a whopping 43 goals in all competitions for Barcelona in 2015-16. He is currently on pace to top 50 goals for the team this season a tremendous feat that show offs his high end quality.
That quality was on display a few days ago when Suarez came through in the clutch for both club and country, scoring a tying goal in the match and getting Uruguay a crucial point in Brazil. He also eased his Barcelona teammate Neymar out of a shouting war with the officials and other Uruguayan players.
Whether Suarez, Uruguay's top scorer of all time, continues his scoring rampage is not in question. But how much he pots against Peru certainly is.
Peru Struggling
Peru is the bottom of the barrel right now in the qualifiers, looking like the minnow of the CONMEBOL with a measly four points. While that certainly betters the failed campaign of Venezuela and Bolivia (one and three points respectively), Peru is looking to miss yet another World Cup despite exhibiting some promising soccer in this summer's Copa America tournament.
A win for Peru likely does little to help it get out of the bottom three spot, though it will certainly bring it closer to the tight race running between second and seventh place. Uruguay, sitting in second, has 10 points while Colombia, sitting in seventh, has seven points.
Colombia is playing Ecuador today. A favor from the Cafeteros could mean that by the end of the night, Uruguay could very well be in first place at the end of a victory against Peru. A loss by Uruguay and suddenly Peru, which is currently six points behind the Celestes, would be just three points behind.
Prediction: Uruguay runs away with the game at home, putting up a 5-1 win. Suarez scores a hat trick in the game.
The game will be viewable on beIN Sports USA and can be seen on its streaming services and app at 7 PM EST.
The game will be played at the Estadio Centenario in Montevideo, Uruguay.
