Marvel 'Avengers 2' Movie Release Date, Cast, Spoilers: Scarlet Witch & Quicksilver's Brother-Sister Act, Ultron, and Major Character Death
The much-anticipated superhero action film "Avengers: Age of Ultron" is set for release on May 1, 2015. It is now less than a year away, and fans cannot wait to see it. Joss Whedon, who wrote the script, also directs the movie (as he did with the previous "Avengers"). The large, star-studded cast of the movie includes many returning favorites and several new faces: Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man, Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Chris Evans as Captain America, Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye, Mark Ruffalo as the Hulk, Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, Paul Bettany as Jarvis (whose role will be significantly expanded), Cobie Smulders as Agent Hill, Don Cheadle as Colonel Rhodes (War Machine), and newcomers Elizabeth Olsen as Scarlet Witch, Aaron Taylor-Johnson as Quicksilver, James Spader as Ultron. Clark Gregg's character of Agent Coulson is widely rumored to be involved, but there has been no confirmation of this rumor.
Spoilers
- Whedon announced that he is introducing a "brother-sister act" in Avengers 2, which is the entrance of Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver, two new characters who will make the fight confusing for the other Avengers. Their skills are telekinetic ability and casting spells for Scarlet Witch and great speed for Quicksilver.
- Whedon also articulated wishing to make a twist in the permanent cast, even mentioning "killing off a major character," reports ScreenRant.
- He further said that he hopes to keep away from the usual drawbacks of superhero film sequels, where the new crook is excessively given more exposure than the alleged heroes.
- Sixty-five-year old Samuel L. Jackson said that the new "Avengers" is gigantic. He also stated that the sequel is more about what S.H.I.E.L.D. is experiencing and not just about Nick. Jackson added that Nick will go back to the shadow world, making him a more mysterious character, almost unrecongizable in comparison to his role in the previous film.
- Elizabeth Olsen, who will play Scarlet Witch, said that her role requires interrelating with "something that is not even there."
- There will be no Loki in this film.
- In this sequel, the twisted robot Ultron is the new primary villain. Rather than a typically cold and cruel artificial intelligence like the well-known HAL 9000 from "2001: A Space Odyssey," Ultron is emotional to the point of being mercurial (although he is also thoroughly cruel).
