New 2016 Presidential Poll Shows How Unpopular Hillary Clinton, Donald Trump Are
Casting a vote for either Hillary Clinton or Donald Trump for president in 2016 appears to be a matter of picking the lesser of two evils in the minds of many voters.
A new NBC/Survey Monkey Election Tracking Poll finds that roughly six in 10 Americans maintain they either "dislike" or "hate" Clinton, while even more (63 percent) express those same level of negative feelings toward Trump.
Data also shows roughly a third of all voters admit the primary reason they support the candidate of their choice is to stand in opposition of the other party's candidate.
Clinton Holds Four Point Lead
Overall, the survey found Clinton now leads Trump 47 percent to 43 percent among registered voters, though just four in 10 voters insist they "admire" her. Again, Trump fares even worse, with just 36 percent of voters responding they "admire" the New York City real estate mogul and political neophyte.
Clinton up big Among Minority Voters
Pollsters found Clinton a 35-point lead over Trump among Hispanic voters at 64 percent to 29 percent. The issue of immigration reform has been one of the most hotly debated topics of this election season, with Trump vowing to deport millions of immigrants if he is elected.
At 88 percent to 6 percent, Clinton's lead among Black voters is even larger, and is up by another seven percent just over the last week. Clinton's lead among female voters is also holding firm at 54 percent to 36 percent.
Meanwhile, Trump holds double-digit leads among white (52 percent to 38 percent) and male (51 percent to 41 percent) voters.
In all, three in 10 Clinton supporters admitted that they support her in opposition to Trump, while 36 percent of Trump's supporters claimed the same held true for them when it comes to the former first lady.
Throughout much of the election season, Trump has been roundly criticized by the media and fellow politicians over his perceived lack of clarity on certain policy issues, but nearly one-third of all his supporters insist they are in lockstep with his proposals and it represents the most important reason for their vote choice.
