‘Orange Is The New Black’ Cast News and Update: Uzo Aduba Talks Crazy Eyes, ‘OITNB’ Wins GLAAD Award
The second season of "Orange Is The New Black" seems so close, yet so far.
While we wait just a few more weeks for the second season release of the hit Netflix series, "OITNB" actor Uzo Aduba and show creator Jenji Kohan sat down to talk about "OITNB," Aduba's quirky character "Crazy Eyes," and some of their favorite moments on the show.
Check out the clip below:
In the Netflix clip, entitled, "Behind the Bars," Aduba describes her character Suzan "Crazy Eyes" Warren as "point to point passion always."
Aduba continued, "She acts and then thinks. She's always living from a passionate place and place of well intention and love."
"Crazy Eyes" isn't the only one who's passionate. Jenji Kohan raved about Aduba's remarkable acting abilities that brought the role of "Crazy Eyes" to life.
"Uzo is just a remarkable actress," said Kohan. "It was a beautiful semiosis of what was on the page [of the script] and what she brought that created this character."
Like many "OITNB" fans, Aduba revealed that one of her favorite scenes was the infamous "chocolate and vanilla swirl" scene that she shares with Taylor Schilling's character, Piper Chapman.
"I never ever would have imagined that ‘chocolate and vanilla swirl' would be something where I would get all these tweets from people wanting me to sing it or where they'd be sending me all these pictures of chocolate and vanilla ice cream. "
So how did she come up with the famous flavorful line?
"When we were shooting [the scene] I thought what could I do to bring something to the table? Then it became another animal."
"Orange Is The New Black" was recently named outstanding comedy series at the 25th annual GLAAD Media Awards' New York ceremony.
Last month, "OITNB" actress Laverne Cox won her own GLAAD award.
Season 2 of "OITNB" comes out on Netflix on June 6.
