Mega Millions Numbers for Friday, June 3, 2016: Jackpot Tops $251 Million

The Mega Millions jackpot will top at least $251 million on Friday, June 3.
There were no jackpot winners in the May 31, $235 million drawing, rolling the jackpot over to Friday night's drawing. A single winner electing to accept a cash option would receive a lump sum of $162 million. You can watch live stream here at 11 p.m.
The Mega Millions winning numbers for May 31, were 9-31-34-41-49. The Gold Mega Ball number was 8 and the Megaplier number was 5.
Five $1 Million Winners
For that drawing, two players matched all five white balls, walking away with a prize of $1 million. The winning tickets were purchased in Georgia and Texas.
Neither of those two winners played the Megaplier, which would have increased their winnings to $5 million. In addition, 29 ticket holders matched four white ball numbers with the mega ball for a prize of $5,000. Two of those winner had the Megaplier, bumping their winnings up to $25,000.
Mega Millions drawings are held Tuesday and Friday at 11 p.m. Five balls are drawn from a set of balls numbered 1 through 75; the Mega ball is drawn from a set of balls numbered 1 through 15. The odds of winning the jackpot is 1 in 259 million
Mega Millions is played in 44 states, plus the District of Columbia and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Tickets cost $1 each.
Authorities Warn of Scam
Meanwhile, game officials are warning the public about a new scam "attempting to convince consumers they have a big prize using our name."
According to authorities, the scam entails perpetrators pretending to be from the "Corporate Mega Millions Lottery Office" and falsely telling individuals they have won the "Annual Mega Millions Mobile Lottery."
Authorities' stress the overtures are not from lottery officials and are in no way connected to their operations. Those contacted are advised not to respond because perpetrators will attempt to trick them out of money in order to "claim" their prize.
